Me Jane, Me Wondering: Do You Still Like Me?

(Tarzan & Jane Story Series: Part 4 of 6)

Me Jane, Me Wondering: Do You Still Like Me?

Jane knew Tarzan loved her. Love was a decision, and he had made it years ago. He worked hard. He provided. He was loyal. She never doubted his love.

But sometimes, she wondered—does he even like me anymore?

There were sharp remarks, little barbs of frustration. The silence when she told him, as she always had, “I’m so glad we’re married.” He no longer echoed it back. He rarely complimented her. He didn’t marvel at her like he once did.

They did life well together—hikes, routines, shared responsibilities. But Jane felt like a roommate, not a wife. A reliable friend, not a cherished treasure.

She longed not just for love, but for delight. To feel noticed. To feel liked. To know that after all these years, Tarzan still enjoyed her company, still admired her spirit, still found her beautiful.

This is the erosion that happens quietly in many marriages. Love shifts into duty. Affection turns mechanical. Friendship remains, but pursuit fades. And the wife—or husband—is left wondering: Am I still liked?

The answer lies in intentional choice:

  • Tell your spouse not only “I love you,” but also “I like you.”

  • Admire their quirks. Celebrate their strengths. Laugh together, the way you used to.

  • Remember that love is the foundation, but liking each other is the spark that keeps the fire alive.

Because marriage isn’t meant to be just survival. It’s meant to be joy. And no spouse should have to whisper in their heart: Me Jane, Me Wondering.

🌴 Jungle Laugh: “Jane trusted Tarzan with her heart… just not with directions out of the jungle.”
