Me Tarzan, Me Avoidant: The Silence That Grows
Me Tarzan, Me Avoidant: The Silence That Grows
(Tarzan & Jane Series: Part 7 of 16)
Sometimes the silence between a husband and wife speaks louder than words.
Tarzan noticed Jane wasn’t quite herself. Her smiles weren’t as radiant, her laughter didn’t come as easily, and sometimes he caught a flicker of hurt in her eyes. He noticed… but he didn’t ask.
To ask would mean opening a deep conversation — the kind that made Tarzan uncomfortable. After all, she was Jane. She’d be fine. Whatever “it” was, surely “it” would pass.
Avoidance felt easier. No messy emotions, no drawn-out conversations. Yet in that silence, the distance between them grew.
Jane longed for him to lean in, to ask, to seek her inner world the way he once did. But instead, his quiet avoidance left her carrying her pain alone.
Reflection
Why do so many marriages fall into this trap?
Why do men (and sometimes women) stop asking, stop pursuing curiosity about one another once comfort sets in?
Avoidance may feel safe, but it slowly starves a marriage. What could be enriched by deeper connection becomes stagnant instead.
💬 Have you noticed moments of avoidance in your own relationship? Don’t let silence grow into distance. Start small — ask, listen, lean in. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but intimacy thrives on curiosity.
Jungle Laugh:
“Tarzan thought silence was golden… until Jane’s silence turned platinum and priceless!” 🌴😂
