Me Tarzan, Me Avoidant: The Silence That Grows
Me Tarzan, Me Avoidant: The Silence That Grows
(Tarzan & Jane Story Series: Part 7 of 16)
There were times when Tarzan could tell something was wrong.
Jane’s smile didn’t sparkle the way it once did. Her laughter sounded softer, almost forced. Occasionally, when she thought he wasn’t looking, a shadow passed through her eyes — a shadow of hurt.
Tarzan noticed. But instead of asking, he looked away.
Because asking meant stepping into the unknown. Asking meant deep conversations — and deep conversations made Tarzan uneasy. They were heavy, uncertain, full of emotions he wasn’t sure how to handle.
So he told himself what was easiest to believe:
Jane was strong. She was Jane. She would be fine. Whatever “it” was, “it” would pass.
And so he avoided the questions. He avoided the truth.
But Jane felt it. The silence between them grew louder. Her heart ached for him to lean in, to see her, to ask. To still be curious about her inner world the way he once was. But instead, she carried her hurt alone, while Tarzan convinced himself all was well.
What Tarzan didn’t realize was that avoidance doesn’t just dodge a conversation — it builds a wall. And every time he turned away, the wall grew taller, stronger, colder.
✦ Reflection / Takeaway
Avoidance feels easier in the moment, but silence can be louder than words. Every unasked question is a missed chance for connection.
Why is it that marriages grow stagnant when curiosity stops?
Why do some husbands — and wives too — lose the desire to truly know one another?
Why does comfort so often replace pursuit?
Avoidance feels safe in the moment, but it slowly drains the life from a relationship. The very depth that could enrich and strengthen love is left unexplored.
Call-to-Action:
🌿 Your marriage deserves more than silence. Don’t let avoidance steal connection. Ask the questions, even if they feel uncomfortable. The reward is deeper love. Start small — ask, listen, lean in. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but intimacy thrives on curiosity.
Jungle Laugh:
“Tarzan avoided Jane’s feelings like quicksand… but funny thing about quicksand — the more you avoid, the deeper you sink!” 🐒😂
